Hello Friends! I've created this update for Lucas, my 4 years old Persian kitty. I adopted him just short 6 months ago. He is an awesome furry guy! There was no indication of any problems until the very day he ended up in Pet ER with urinary blockage. I am so glad that our Veterinarian Dr. Joy at Benfield Hospital recognized it as an emergency and referred Lucas to nearby ER clinic: North Texas Emergency Pet Clinic. From there, thanks to Dr. Psutka, Lucas was transferred to Center for Veterinary Specialty Care. While in ER, they were finally able to insert the catheter, but not without issues... bad sign. unfortunately, whenever the catheter was removed, even after his 48 and 72 hours of treatment, the blockage returned. X-ray didn't show any definite answers, so ultrasound had to be performed and uncovered some "debris" in the bladder. It was decided that two surgeries were needed to stop the blockage for good: Cystectomy and Perineal Urethrostomy (PU). Thankfully, the great surgeon was available to do the procedures and get Lucas into recovery mode. Also, the special prescription diet is required for the rest of his precious life.
